📺 Let's set up your TV

Your child's fish looks best swimming on the living-room TV. Pick the right way for your TV; each takes just a few minutes.

Which TV do you have?

Is my TV Android? How can I tell?

If the TV's Settings menu or start screen says "Google TV" or "Android TV" and the home screen has Play Store (Google Play), choose the first option. TVs running Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS) and Vidaa are not Android: choose the second option. If you're unsure, the second way works on every TV.

Setup on Android TV / Google TV

Our app is in early access (closed testing) on Google Play. So before it shows up in your TV's Play Store, 2 quick sign-ups are needed. We can't do them for you: only you know the Google account on your TV.

Which Google account is on your TV?

On the TV, go to Settings → Accounts & sign-in (on some models Settings → Accounts; on Google TV, the profile picture at the top right → Settings → Accounts). Note down the email address shown there.

Do the next two steps on your phone with this account. If another account is signed in on your phone, switch to this one from the profile picture at the top right of the page.

Join the test group

On the page that opens on your phone, tap Join group. Only we post to the group; your email isn't visible to others.

Become a tester

On the page that opens, with the same account, tap the "Become a tester" button. You should see "You're now a tester".

Install it from the Play Store on the TV

Open the Play Store on the TV, type Motivasyon TV in the search box and press Install. You can also press the microphone button on the remote and say "Motivasyon TV".

Open the app and enter the code

Open Motivasyon TV on the TV. A 6-digit code and a QR code appear on the screen. In the parent panel on your phone, tap Connect TV and enter the code, or scan the QR code with the camera. The fish starts swimming in a few seconds.

🛠️ Play Store says "not found" or the app doesn't show up
  • Wait a little: it can take from a few minutes to a few hours for the test sign-up to reach the TV. Wait an hour, then turn the TV off and on and search again.
  • Is it the right account? You must have done steps 2 and 3 with the TV's account. If you used a different account on your phone, switch to the TV's account and repeat steps 2 and 3 with it.
  • If the TV has more than one account: in the TV's Play Store, pick the account you became a tester with from the profile picture at the top right.
  • If there's no "Become a tester" button: first join the group (step 2), wait a few minutes and refresh the test page.
  • Still not working? The no-app way works on every Android TV too. Set it up with the TV browser.

Please don't delete the app for 14 days: Google requires testers to use it for this long before the app can be opened to everyone.

Setup with the TV browser (Samsung, LG and others)

Open the TV's web browser

Press the home button on the remote and open the app called Internet, Web Browser or Browser. On Samsung it's usually "Internet", on LG "Web Browser".

Type this into the address bar

motivasyontv.com/tv

Select the address bar with the arrow keys on the remote and type the letters on the on-screen keyboard. You don't need to add "www" or "https".

Enter the 6-digit code on the screen

In the parent panel on your phone, tap Connect TV and enter the code, or scan the QR code on the TV with your phone camera. The code changes every 15 minutes; if it expires, refresh the page and enter the new code.

💡 Tips for using the browser
  • Full screen: if the browser menu has a "Full screen" option, turn it on; the address bar hides and the fish fills the whole screen.
  • Add it to favorites: bookmark the page; next time it opens with one button, no typing. The TV remembers the connection, so the code is entered only once.
  • If the screen goes dark: in the TV settings, extend or turn off "Screen saver", "Auto power off" or "Energy saving".
  • No sound? Some TV browsers don't play sound until the first press; press OK once on the remote.

Without a TV: phone or tablet

Hand this phone to your child: Child mode

Tap the 👧 Child mode button at the top of the parent panel. You'll first set a 4-digit parent PIN; your child sees their fish, tasks and games, but can't approve anything or change settings.

Frequently asked questions

Which TVs does Motivasyon TV work on?

It works on any smart TV with a web browser: just open motivasyontv.com/tv in the TV browser and enter the 6-digit code from the screen in the parent panel. On Android TV and Google TV you can also install the app from Google Play.

Why doesn't it show up in the Play Store on Android TV?

The app is currently in closed testing on Google Play. With the Google account used on the TV, you first need to join the test group and become a tester; it reaches the TV within a few minutes to a few hours.
